U.S. Coast Guard Elizabeth City

During our trip along the East Coast of America, we had a base visit to the US Coast Guard in Elizabeth City. Our guides were a pilot of an HC-130J and a pilot of an HH-60J.

We were given an explanation about which missions are flown and how big their area. On any single day, aircrews may be as far away as Greenland, the Azores or the Caribbean.
The missions are; Search and Resue, International Ice Patrol, Aids to Navigation, Law Enforcement, Environment Protection and National Security.

I would like to thank everyone on the base for their cooperation during the base visit, but especially the two pilots who escorted us.

The C-27J were owned by the US Air Force, but did not meet their demands. Now they will be used by the US Coast Guards.
